Dr. Crofton is an Associate Professor with a primary appointment in the Department of Physical Therapy. His areas of expertise include clinical anatomy, neuroscience, and biopolymers. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN with majors in Chemistry and Religion and a concentration in Biomedical Studies. Dr. Crofton completed a Ph.D. in Clinical Anatomy from Loma Linda University (LLU) School of Medicine in Loma Linda, CA before joining the ADU faculty in 2015. Dr. Crofton teaches gross anatomy courses for the Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies, and Master of Occupational Therapy programs and provides supplemental instruction in the cadaver laboratory for the Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice program. He also co-teaches the Neuroscience I course and Research Course Series for the DPT program. Dr. Crofton’s primary areas of research interest include development of chitosan as a drug delivery vehicle and implantable hemostatic device, anatomical variants and their clinical relevance, and approaches to anatomy education in health sciences. He is also working with Jeff Kite, the Program Admissions Specialist for ADU’s Physical and Occupational Therapy programs, to identify factors that predict success in ADU’s DPT program. Finally, Dr. Crofton is collaborating with a large team of investigators at ADU and Florida Hospital to evaluate the effectiveness of Florida Hospital’s employee wellness program (CREATION Health) in improving health and well-being. Dr. Crofton’s research has led to four patents and patent applications as well as numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and presentations.
