International Student Advisor & Enrollment Counselor

Where are you from? A little bit of everywhere.

What are some of your hobbies? Reading, traveling, playing with my son and trying different types of coffee.

What advice do you have for prospective students? Learn everything you can about a school before you decide to go there. Your college campus and the atmosphere it provides will shape the kind of adult you become.

What is your favorite spot on campus? My office, I meet the coolest people there.

What is your best Admission memory? A few years ago I had the opportunity to work with a young man from a war torn country. He had been raised in an orphanage due to losing his mother in a car bombing that he narrowly survived at the age of 5. When he was a preteen a group of Seventh-Day Adventist missionaries came to his orphanage. They taught the kids’ reading, writing, and math. This young man was strong and smart and he saw education as his way out of a tough situation so he studied hard and with the help of the missionaries he got into an Adventist Academy in another country. When he graduated his missionary friends connected him with me and we spent several months working on getting his papers so he could leave the country. Meanwhile he was hiding in the basement of his former orphanage from the rebels who were kidnapping anyone trying to leave the country. He would sneak out once a week when it was safe and call me from a payphone or e-mail me from an internet café to update me on his situation and get instructions on his next steps. When the time finally came for him to get on the flight that would bring him to America additional complications almost caused him to not make it. When he showed up on campus with 2 shirts, 3 pants, 1 pair of shoes, and a pillow, I have never been more happy to see anyone. His story is why I do what I do, and why I thank God every day that He put me in a job that allows me to make a real difference in the lives’ of others.!

What is your best college memory? Celebrating passing a test with my best friend by going out for ice cream and singing “we are the champions” as loud as we could in the car on the way there.
