Dr. Jennifer Collins holds the rank of Professor. She was Chair of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at ADU from 2015-18. Following graduation from Russell Sage College/Albany College of Medicine (1978) with her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy, she practiced PT serving individuals with developmental disabilities, elders, and clients in home care. She earned her Master of Public Administration (Health emphasis) from The State University of New York: Brockport in 1989, and her Doctor of Education from the University of Rochester (2001) in Higher Education/Educational Leadership. In 1991, Dr. Collins began her career as a full time faculty member, with progressively increasing areas of responsibility at Ithaca College, University of Findlay, and Nazareth College. She has taught in many areas of physical therapist education, but most enjoys Professional Issues, Management, Global Health, and Psychosocial Considerations of Practice. She prefers research using qualitative investigation, and has published and presented in the areas of professional issues, wellness approaches for young adults with developmental disabilities, and global education. She is a trainer for the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Credentialed Clinical Instructor Programs Levels I and II, and serves on the APTA Work Group that governs these programs. Professional service has played a major role in her experience, including: past Vice President of the New York Physical Therapy Association (NYPTA), delegate to the House of Delegates for more than 10 years, a manuscript reviewer for professional journals, and an on-site reviewer for the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapist Education (CAPTE).
