About

Dr. Rivera earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at the University of The Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas in 1999. As soon as he graduated he started working in the Coronary Intensive Care Unit for Methodist Hospital in San Antonio where he worked as Nurse Extern prior to graduation. He then worked in the Cardiac Cath Lab for St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma while his wife finished her Master’s degree at the University of Tulsa. In 2002, he was accepted to the Nurse Anesthesia Program at Webster University where he earned his Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia in 2005. Following graduation, he began working as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) at Phelps County Regional Medical Center (PCRMC) in Rolla, MO, where he worked in an independent setting until 2019. In his 14 years of experience at PCRMC, he served as Clinical Coordinator and Preceptor for Webster University and worked consistently with anesthesia students, paramedic students, and medical students. In 2009, he was the Founder and President of Rivera Anesthesia Seminars and organized an anesthesia seminar on his beloved island of Puerto Rico. Dr. Rivera earned his Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in 2014 and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2016 from Union University in Jackson, TN while maintaining his full-time responsibilities to his employer at PCRMC and at home to his wife Jennifer and kids. Dr. Rivera was a presenter at the Tenth National DNP Conference in New Orleans, LA where he had the opportunity to share his capstone project on Tranexamic Acid. He has also served as community leader as a youth baseball coach and as Head Deacon and Chairperson for the School Board at the Rolla Seventh-day Adventist Church.
