The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is a scholastic aptitude assessment that can be used as one component of the selection process for admitting students into a college nursing program.

At our Orlando campus, tests are available to both AHU students and students from the local community.  The Orlando campus offers both the computerized TEAS and the paper/pencil TEAS.

At our Denver location, we only test AHU students, and we only offer the paper-based TEAS.

ACCUPLACER Placement Test

Cost: Free for AHU students, $20 for non-AHU students

Accuplacer is a computerized placement test that provides useful information about academic skills in the areas of elementary algebra, writing (sentence) skills, and reading comprehension. Prior course work and nationally standardized test scores determine which sections of Accuplacer tests must be taken.  The results of the assessment are used to determine placement into a college English or math course that meets a student's skill level.  For AHU students, we offer the Next-Generation Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics test for the math placement test and the Next-Generation Reading test, along with the Next-Generation Writing test for the English placement test.

Information about practice resources, student score repots, and local testing center options are available at the ACCUPLACER Student Portal

AHU students (Denver and Orlando)

AHU students may call (407)303-7643 or email deena.weiss@ahu.edu to schedule a placement test.

Tests for AHU Students Only

ACT Residual

Cost: $55

The ACT Residual is a nationally administered, standardized paper-and-pencil test that helps colleges and universities evaluate prospective students. The standardized test measures a student's skills in four core areas: English, Math, Reading, and Science.

The ACT Residual does not differ in content from the regular ACT. Instead, it allows colleges and universities to administer the exam on-campus for their “enrolled, admitted, or applicant students who were unable to take the ACT on a regularly scheduled test date in time to meet the college's deadlines." The ACT Residual helps colleges and universities accommodate students who have already decided where to attend college, but still need standardized test scores to complete their admission requirements. Taking an ACT Residual Test at AdventHealth University (AHU) means that your scores are only valid at AHU and nowhere else.

Please visit my.ahu.edu/act for more information about the ACT Residual Test offered at AHU, testing policies, and details on how to best prepare for the test.
