When an emergency threatens your safety and disrupts our operations, we want you to keep you safe and informed how we prepare and how resume normal campus operations with as little disruption as possible
Emergency Alerts and Updates
At this time, all classes, functions and university operations are proceeding normally.
In the event of an active threat, information will be posted here regarding closures, weather alerts, evacuation guidance and return-to-campus instructions.
Inclement Weather Information and Updates
When campus is affected by severe weather, such as a hurricane or tropical storm, the university adopts a phased approach to storm preparations and operations.
- On Alert: Monitoring weather; no action needed yet.
- Preparation: Secure campus, back up data, prepare for remote work.
- Phase One: Partial closure; some operations may continue remotely.
- Phase Two: Full closure; only essential personnel remain on campus.
- Recovery: Post-storm assessment and phased reopening.
Evacuation Guidance for Housing Residents
Instructions for evacuations will be communicated directly by University Housing staff. Shelter locations and assistance plans will be included.

- Campus Closure Decisions

Campus closure decisions are made by AHU Cabinet in coordination with local and state officials. Factors include weather advisories, infrastructure damage, and commuter safety.
- Class Cancellations and Academic Continuity

Classes may shift to remote instruction based on the Academic Continuity Policy . Students and faculty will be notified of cancellations via the emergency notification system, with additional academic information provided via email and/or Canvas.
- Housing Closures

Bay Run and LaSalle campuses may be evacuated during Phase Two events. Updates will be provided by University Housing staff.
