| Description: | The purpose of this course is for students to explore the history of nurse-midwifery in the United States. There are pivotal historical events and turning points that have shaped the current landscape of the care that nurse-midwives provide. There are poignant documents authored by the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) that affect the survival and advancement of the profession of midwifery. This course will incorporate multiple teaching methodologies to provide a foundation for the concepts and skills necessary to care for low-risk women across the lifespan. This is a two (2) credit hour course and students are expected to complete thirty (30) clock hours. |
