| Description: | The purpose of this course is to provide knowledge and skills needed to support women from diverse backgrounds during labor, birth and postpartum. Evidence based medicine, whole person care, and theoretical perspectives are the foundations for uncomplicated labor, birth and postpartum midwifery care. The student will utilize these concepts with a shared-decision making model to develop management plans that promote optimal maternal/fetal/newborn outcomes. This is a three (3) credit hour course and students are expected to complete forty-five (45) clock hours. |
