Description:

This is the third of three sequential nurse-midwifery clinical courses. Advanced midwifery involves the identification and management of maternal/fetal/newborn complications. The purpose of this course is for the student to learn to evaluate the objective, subjective and diagnostic data to formulate a holistic management strategy for common complications during pregnancy, birth and postpartum.  There is a focus on interprofessional collaboration and shared decision-making components of care.  Students will prepare for the comprehensive exam in midwifery skills and education utilizing the practice exam questions, review book questions, self-reflection, and assessment. Students are expected to complete two hundred (200) clinical hours.
