OCTH 121: Psychosocial Issues in Occupational Therapy

This course provides a perspective of psychosocial issues across the human life span. It provides the student with the basic knowledge regarding the role of occupational therapy in a psychosocial setting; etiology, clinical features, and prognosis of mental health diagnoses; historical and current OT theories; and documentation. The course will provide the OTA student with the opportunity to practice clinical skills and conduct groups for a variety of persons with psychosocial dysfunctions. An emphasis will be placed upon the importance of incorporating the psychosocial components of evaluation and treatment in all clinical settings.
