Biography
Dr. Aissa Y. Scott serves as Program Director of the Nurse-Midwifery Program and Assistant Professor at AdventHealth University. She is a doctorally prepared Certified Nurse-Midwife with 29 years of nursing experience in high-risk labor and delivery, nurse-midwifery practice, and higher education.
Dr. Scott earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from South University, a Master of Science from the University of Florida, where she completed her nurse-midwifery education, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Florida.
Her academic leadership experience includes serving as a Director of Clinical Placement and as Interim Program Director of an Associate of Science in Nursing program. She has chaired multiple nursing committees and served as a faculty mentor, Student Nurses Association faculty advisor, and preceptor for graduate nursing education students.
Her research interests include maternal health disparities, health equity, maternal morbidity and mortality, midwifery education, and improving access to high-quality maternity care.
Dr. Scott is a recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, following nominations from her students in recognition of her impact as a nurse educator and mentor.
