Biography
Dr. Hernandez has been a nurse since 2009. She started teaching in prelicensure nursing programs since 2015. She has been a nursing faculty at AHU since 2021. Her degrees include BSN – Far Eastern University-Manila, Philippines, MSN – Grand Canyon University-Phoenix, AZ (With an Emphasis in Nursing Education), and PhD in Nursing – Florida Atlantic University- Boca Raton, FL. Currently, she teaches Health Assessment, Foundation of Nursing, Adult Health I and II courses for the BSN Program. She serves on a variety of committees in the Department of Nursing at AHU. Her research interests include caring, care transition and coordination, patient outcomes, and teaching-learning strategies and outcomes. She is a cardiovascular intensive care unit nurse and acute/chronic dialysis nurse. Dr. Hernandez serves as a Peer Reviewer of multiple journals (American Journal of Critical Care, Journal of Nursing Scholarship, American Nurse Journal) and Associate Editor of the Journal of Social and Allied Health Sciences. She continues to support this institution in the city as a mission volunteer. She has a variety of peer reviewed nursing publications in multiple journals and actively participating in the different local, national, and international conferences.
