Biography

Dr. Claudine McLaren is an Assistant Professor of Sociology in the Department of Health Humanities and Social Sciences. She holds a PhD in Education with a concentration in Higher Education and Policy Studies and a Master’s degree in Applied Sociology from the University of Central Florida.

With over two decades of experience in postsecondary education, Dr. McLaren’s work spans teaching, advising, and research. Her scholarship focuses on student success and health equity, with particular attention to the structural factors that shape outcomes in higher education and healthcare.

In the classroom, Dr. McLaren is committed to creating learning experiences that are rigorous, relevant, and grounded in real-world application. Her teaching reflects a deep engagement with the human dimensions of education, encouraging students to think critically about systems, policies, and communities.
