Biography

Dr. Hagerstrom has been a nursing faculty at AHU since 2023. His degrees include: BA—Rhode Island College—Biology & Psychology, ASN—Valencia Community College, BSN – University of Central Florida, MSN – University of Central Florida (Family Nurse Practitioner), and PhD – Georgia State University – Health Promotion Specialty. Currently, he teaches Introduction to Health Assessment and the Practicum courses for the BSN Program. He serves on a variety of committees in the Department of Nursing, including the Curriculum Committee and the BSN Evaluation Committee. His research interests include behaviors in patients with diabetes and using simulation in nursing education. He is a Family Nurse Practitioner and worked in various medical-surgical areas before becoming an advanced practice nurse. He is an active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
