Biography

Julie Cook is vice-chair for humanities for the Health and Biomedical Sciences Department. As part of her role as vice-chair, she helped start the Honors Program at AHU. She also teaches Introduction to Public Speaking and English Composition I and II. She earned her B.S. in Social Studies from Pacific Union College and her M.A. in English from La Sierra University. She started teaching in 2004, first abroad in Taiwan and Thailand then she came to AHU in 2010. Her teaching at AHU has focused on getting students actively engaged in learning. In 2012, she was awarded Adventist University’s Core Value Merit Award: Excellence. Her interests are in developing active learning strategies as well as researching how to give effective feedback on student writing. She has published devotional articles in the Adventist Review.
