Biography

Karen Kelly MSN, RN, CHSE graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Nursing. She then obtained an MSN (Educator Track) at UCF in 2012 while working as a hospital clinical educator, teaching in the Critical Care Nurse Internship Program for newly graduated nurses. In 2015 she became the first Simulation Strategist for AdventHealth CFD Simulation Program creating simulations for clinical professionals. She also supported AdventHealth University simulations. In 2016 she obtained a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator certification and taught clinical educators the INACSL (International Nursing Association of Clinical Simulation Learning) Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice. She presented at INACLS a talk entitled a Multidepartment Approach to Modernize Graduate Nursing Orientation. She developed the FACET (Formative Assessment of Clinical Education and Training) assessment tool that was used for newly graduated nurse simulations. The last few years she has been teaching leadership development classes for both clinical and nonclinical leaders. She is a current member of the Society of Simulation in Healthcare.
