Biography

Karmel Riches is an Assistant Professor, Nursing Success Coach and Remediation Specialist at AdventHealth University. She earned a Master of Science degree in Nursing/Education from the University of Texas (Arlington), her Master of Management degree from University of Phoenix, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Florida Atlantic University.

Ms. Riches began her journey in nursing with a passion for pediatric care where she honed her skills in providing compassionate and comprehensive care to children and their families. Her dedication to this field led her to pursue further specialization in neonatal intensive care, later transitioning to labor and delivery.

Driven by a desire to seek justice and advocate for vulnerable populations, Ms. Riches became a forensic nurse, where she utilized her skills to collect evidence, provide expert testimony, and support children of violence and abuse. As the mother of a son born with a brain injury, she dedicated her nursing career to supporting another vulnerable population by serving people with disabilities. Ms. Riches served as Coordinator of Patients with Special Needs for a large health care organization and held a gubernatorial position on the Florida Developmental Disability Council.

Ms. Riches also served as a nurse educator and nursing program director. She is a published contributor, author, poster presenter, and speaker at health care conferences.
