Dr. Nel Thomas is the Vice-Chair of Nursing for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Adventist University of Health Sciences’ Orlando campus. She holds a doctoral degree (PhD) from Barry University, a master degree in nursing education (MSN) from Walden University, a master degree in family and community counseling (MA) from Northeastern Illinois University and a bachelor’s degree (BSN) from Andrews University. Dr. Thomas, has over 35 years of experience in medical-surgical nursing, mental health nursing, and nursing education. Her research and clinical interests are in the areas of stress management and coping skills, integrative care, complementary therapies, and health promotion and wellness. She is an active member in the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and served on the Florida Chapter Board. She is also a member of the American Holistic Nursing Association. Dr. Thomas is published by local and state organizations and has presented at a range of conference on simulation in mental health, burnout in nursing, and complementary modalities of nursing care.
