Rhode Mercado BS, MLS (ASCP) is a licensed Medical Laboratory Scientist with more than 23 years of experience in clinical microbiology and laboratory education. Originally from Puerto Rico, she earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and served as a Laboratory Instructor at Antillean University before continuing professional and academic training in the United States. She later completed the Health Sciences program at Southern Adventist University and graduated from the Florida Hospital Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) program.
Certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), she holds credentials in Microbiology, Hematology, Chemistry, Immunology, and Immunohematology. Currently working in Microbiology, she serves in a leadership role overseeing student clinical rotations while supporting laboratory quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. Committed to education and mentorship, Rhode Mercado is dedicated to student success through knowledge sharing, professional guidance, and meaningful engagement that supports both academic and career development.
