Biography

Dr. Sara Austin is an Assistant Professor English in the Department of Health and Biomedical Sciences. She received her B.A. in Spanish for Translation and M.A. in English from Andrews University. She recently (May 2019) completed her Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Writing from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. While at Bowling Green State University, she taught Introduction to Academic Writing, Academic Writing, and Advanced Composition courses in the first year writing program and in the English department. Sara’s research areas include writing transfer, feminist pedagogy, and contract grading. She enjoys working on collaborative projects and has a co-authored an article forthcoming in the March 2020 Journal of Writing Assessment special issue on contract grading and a co-authored chapter to be published in the book What Graduate Students Do. Here at AdventHealth University, Sara teaches Composition I and Composition II and is looking forward to beginning her next research project.
