Biography

Professor Gafoor has been a nursing faculty at AHU since 2023. She started her career while at Hillcrest High School (Jamaica, NY) with Practical Nursing included in her HS curriculum. Her degrees include: ASN – Helene Fuld College of Nursing (NYC, NY), BSN – Downstate University (Brooklyn, NY), MSN – AdventHealth University (Leadership Track). Currently, she teaches Health Assessment and Introduction to Nursing courses for the BSN Program. She serves on a variety of committees in the Department of Nursing, as well as the University, including the Curriculum Committee.

Her specialty includes Critical Care Nursing and Quality Management and Accreditation services. She has worked in multiple settings in the hospital including various Intensive Care Units (ICU), this includes Trauma ICU, CV ICU, Surgical ICU as well as Multisystem ICU. Her work with Quality Management and Accreditation including Risk Management and leading the organization with the conversion from The Joint Commission to Det Norske Veritas (DNV) including the (International Standardization Organization) ISO certification.

She loves to travel (discovering new places and embracing the culture including the food), reading, and spending time with her family. She has a passion for conceptual learning, hands-on activities for the kinesthetic learner, and promote learning with every activity.
