Biography

Professor Sharon Ortega is a nurse educator with over two decades of experience in pediatric nursing. She earned her BSN from Rush University in 2000 and a Masters’ of Science in Nursing Education from Grand Canyon University in 2013. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education degree (EdD) at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences.

Professor Ortega’s clinical background includes extensive experience in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Critical Care Transport. For the past thirteen years, she has served in faculty and leadership roles in nursing academia, with a strong passion for mentoring and supporting student nurses. She has also held advocacy roles with the Cure JM Foundation and the Muscular Dystrophy Association, supporting children with chronic conditions. Her scholarly interests focus on simulation education and the onboarding and development of faculty into simulation-based teaching roles.
