Dr. Johnson has been a faculty at AHU since January 2024.  Her degrees include:  BSN – University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, MSN – Michigan State University (Clinical Nurse Specialist in Primary Care of the Family), and DNP University of South Florida (Nursing Education). She is currently teaching Concepts of Physical and Health Assessment, assisting in Fundamentals of Nursing and developing a Pharmacology course. She started her career working in medical surgical Oncology in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, she went on to pursue her FNP and found her niche working in public health as an FNP with at risk populations (the homeless, teen health, women’s health, adult health, and migrant health). While working for the Lansing Health department she was also introduced to the role of clinical preceptor, which ultimately led to a career in academics. She served as a preceptor to NP, MD and DO students in the capacity of clinician preceptor. She shifted her career and domicile to Florida when she joined the faculty at the University of South Florida, College of Nursing.  She has over the course of her career taught in several specialties of NP programs, BS nursing, RN to BSN, LPN to ASN, and LPN programs. Her doctoral project afforded her the opportunity to assist in the launch of a professional school of nursing at Vally View University in Accra, Ghana. Another of her passions and dreams is to help create additional global health opportunities to elevated nursing education and professional nursing practice in underserved parts of the world. As an educator and nurse, she strives to combine the spiritual, mental, social, and physical aspects of the whole person while training the nurses of the future.
