Sue Calhoun BSMLS is an experienced educator and clinical professional with a strong background in medical laboratory science and higher education. Her career in academia began at Keiser University, where she served as a Clinical Coordinator in the Medical Technology program while also teaching Immunohematology with laboratory instruction in 2015.
Sue later joined Eastern Florida State College as an adjunct instructor in 2018, teaching Advanced Immunohematology laboratory in the Medical Laboratory Technology program. Her commitment to student success and academic excellence led to a full-time faculty position, where she taught a range of courses including Hematology, Medical Microbiology, Immunohematology, and Immunology/Serology within the associate degree program. In 2019, she earned her master’s degree in Higher Education, further strengthening her expertise in curriculum development and student engagement.
From 2022 to 2024, Sue served as Interim Program Director for the Medical Laboratory Technology program at Eastern Florida State College, where she provided leadership in program operations, accreditation standards, and student outcomes. During this time, she also completed her Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science from University of West Florida.
Currently, Sue serves as a full-time Clinical Coordinator at Arizona College of Nursing and as a Microbiology Professor in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Sue is also an adjunct professor at Advent Health University teaching Laboratory Operations and Management. She has been a Medical Laboratory Technologist since 1998 and remains passionate about advancing healthcare education, mentoring students, and preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals.
