Biography

Dr. Veon Stewart was born in Westmoreland, Jamaica. She completed her undergraduate studies at Northern Caribbean University (formerly West Indies College) and her graduate studies in mathematics education at Florida State University. She has taught mathematics at the middle and high school level for years and worked as Adjunct Professors at Miami-Dade College, Nova-Southeastern University and Southern Adventist University before joining the faculty at AdventHealth University in 2014. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Mathematics. Dr. Stewart is a member of the American Mathematics Association of Teachers of Two-year Colleges (AMATYC), National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), and the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (AMTE). Her research interests include the integration of faith and learning in the mathematics classroom, making sense of fractions and mathematics anxieties in students who choose non-mathematics majors.
