BSBS-DPT Curriculum Overview
- Undergraduate Phase (Years 1 to 3)
-
During your first three years, you’ll complete the accelerated BS in Biomedical Sciences curriculum, building a strong foundation in subjects like anatomy, physiology, biology, chemistry, and physics. These courses give you the scientific knowledge you’ll need to succeed in advanced health–profession programs. As a student in the 3+3 program, you’ll focus your coursework on the classes that best support your goal of becoming a physical therapist.
Progression in the Undergraduate Portion
Students may progress toward a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences-Doctor of Physical Therapy degrees when they:
- Maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.50.
- Earn a minimum grade of “C” (2.00) in all BSBS required courses and electives for the degree, while maintaining a 3.5 overall GPA. Students must note that the DPT catalog states that only one C can be earned during the DPT curriculum for progression, or the student may be subject to dismissal.
- Successfully repeat courses in which a minimum grade of “C” (2.00) was not achieved. Students can only repeat the same courses one time.
Students who do not continue into the DPT program may request that eligible coursework be applied toward completion of the stand alone Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences degree, pending review and approval.
- Graduate Phase (Years 4 to 6)
-
Once you successfully complete all academic and program requirements for the BSBS portion of the program, you will be guaranteed admission into the Doctor of Physical Therapy program, provided students meet all applicable academic, professional, and compliance standards. You will not be required to participate in a second interview, submit GRE scores or submit an application through PTCAS.
DPT Program Compliance Requirements
Prior to matriculation into the DPT program, students must complete all DPT-specific compliance requirements. These requirements follow the same timeline established for current DPT admissions and may include, but are not limited to, TB testing, criminal background checks, required immunizations, drug screening, and other applicable health, safety, or compliance requirements.
