Scholarship Requirements

  • Must have a permanent residence in Volusia, Flagler, Marion or Lake County 
  • Must be a high school senior 
  • High School GPA of 2.7+ 
  • Willingness to commit to outlined track leading to a 2027/2028 AHU ASN program start date
  • Must gain General Admission acceptance to AHU by January

  • Letter of recommendation (1) 
  • Essay - In 250 Words, please share with the committee who you are and why you would like to become a nurse
  • Mission alignment 
  • Demonstration of community service outside of school requirements
  • Students who have completed all required prerequisites and begin the ASN program in the Fall semester immediately after high school graduation are eligible for early scholarship consideration

Scholarship Track Details

Stage 1: Apply for the Scholarship

  • Submit your scholarship application between September 1 and November 30.
  • Unofficial transcript submission is required as part of the application. These must be in PDF format. Quick tip: Easily turn photos of hard copies into PDF format with free converter applications.

Upon scholarship acceptance a Nursing Development Specialist will offer personalized support and guidance throughout each stage of the awardee’s journey to becoming a Nurse from the initial scholarship orientation to graduation. Application for general admission to AHU will be a condition of scholarship acceptance.

Stage 2: Completion of AHU ASN Program Prerequisites 

  • Prerequisite courses are the responsibility of the recipient and not covered by the Racing to Excellence Scholarship
  • Prerequisites do not have to be taken at AHU. They simply must transfer to meet the requirements for admission to the AHU ASN program
  • Prerequisite course credits may be satisfied through dual enrollment, AP, and IB courses taken while in high school

Prior coursework acts like a power boost making completion of prerequisites in one semester easy. 

Dual Enrollment Courses: College level English and Math courses are among the most common courses completed by dual-enrolled students.

Approved AP Courses: AP calculus would satisfy the Survey of Mathematics course requirement. English literature, and composition would satisfy the English Composition requirement. AP Psych would not satisfy the Developmental Psychology requirement.

Approved IB Courses: IB English A1 would satisfy the English Composition requirement and IB Mathematics would satisfy the Survey of Mathematics requirement.

Stage 3: Acceptance to AHU ASN Program

  • AHU General Admission acceptance is not required to access the ASN program application. 
  • Waive the General Admission application fee with code: RACINGTOAHU
  • Upon acceptance to AHU General Admission, you will be connected with a Student Experience Manager from AHU who can support and guide you in your journey to admission into the ASN program.

  • Awardees must secure a 2027 or 2028 ASN program start to retain scholarship eligibility

Nursing Development Specialist Tip: If your final prerequisite course work is in progress and you are more than halfway through the semester, you may apply to the ASN program and receive conditional acceptance pending successful course completion.

Stage 4: Satisfactory progression through AHU ASN program

  • Once admitted, scholars must adhere to and meet program requirements and policies to retain scholarship eligibility. View full details in the Academic Catalog.
  • Your Nursing Development Specialist will continue to be a support and guide as you pass the checkered flags and prepare for your transition to care.

Applicants must submit their scholarship application, including essay, mission alignment responses, unofficial transcripts, letter of recommendation and confirmation of community service by 5pm ET on November 30.

Once a completed application is received, essays and mission alignment answers will be double blinded and reviewed by AHU's scholarship committee.

In AdventHealth University’s Associate of Science in Nursing program, you’ll learn the essential skills needed for your nursing career and feel prepared and confident to take your National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX) for Registered Nurses.

  • Once AHU ASN program prerequisites are complete and TEAS exam results are finalized
  • Early conditional acceptance may be awarded to those who apply more than halfway through a semester in which final remaining pre-requisite courses are in progress. Official acceptance will be determined upon successful completion of coursework

The Racing to Excellence Scholarship will cover the cost of the AHU ASN program tuition and fees up to $34,348. All recipients are required to complete the FAFSA as a condition of acceptance. The financial aid department will assess all aid that has been awarded to each scholar to include government aid and other scholarships awarded. Once assessed, the Racing to Excellence Scholarship will be applied to cover the remaining balance. The amount applied will vary per student and will not exceed $34,348. Expenses outside of program tuition and fees such as books, housing, and meals are not covered by this scholarship and are the responsibility of the student.

Recipients of this scholarship must attend the AHU Orlando Campus.

Yes. This scholarship is specifically for the ASN program. However, should a scholar be interested in obtaining their BSN degree AHU offers a bridge program that is 100% online and can be completed in one year. Also, it is important to note that should a scholar begin their career with AdventHealth, a current benefit for team members is for 100% of this program cost to be covered as an educational benefit.
