Radiographers are highly skilled professionals qualified to apply ionizing radiation demonstrating portions of the human body to assist physicians in diagnosing disease and injury. Radiographers who perform imaging examinations are responsible for accurately positioning patients, ensuring that a quality diagnostic image is produced. With advances in medical technology, radiographers are prepared to use digital imaging equipment to enhance image quality and facilitate rapid diagnosis. Graduates may seek employment as a staff radiographer or continue their education to go into one of the many specialty areas of radiology, such as computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), administration, education, and sales.
Students that study radiography at AHU reap the benefits of our program lab, equipped with an energized x-ray machine, computer technology, and plasma screens perfect for displaying clinical case studies, all integrated to enhance laboratory instruction. A variety of clinical rotations throughout hospitals and independent imaging centers allows students to interface with the latest technology and prepare for their future careers. Program graduates are eligible to apply for the national certification examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Mission Statement: Consistent with the mission of the university, the Radiography Program at AdventHealth University provides a Christian educational environment that prepares students to become skilled imaging professionals who possess technical expertise and personal characteristics for successful employment. All faculty members of the A.S. Radiography Program are certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography, with some further specializations in advanced modalities such as Mammography, Computed Tomography, and Quality Assurance. With over 60 years of teaching experience between them, students can expect high quality, cutting edge education in the A.S. Radiography Program.
The performance of the A.S. Radiography Program is reflected through program effectiveness data as defined by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). The program’s assessment plan identifies three areas to serve as a platform for program effectiveness: program completion rate; credentialing examination pass rate; and post graduate job placement. These measurements represent achievements of the students' experience, development, competency, and their effectiveness as an imaging professionals. Current program effectiveness data is measured for a five year period.
