About Our Radiography Program

The Associate of Science in Radiography program is a six-trimester, blended-format program that combines classroom instruction, clinical practicum, and online learning. This innovative educational approach offers students a well-rounded and dynamic learning experience. As a distance education program, courses are delivered through technology to students located in the Denver, Colorado, and Orlando, Florida metro areas.

Through hands-on training, our students prepare for a fulfilling radiography career, learning from real cases and mastering the same technology used by experts. AHU’s Distance Education Radiography program offers didactic and clinical learning opportunities at both the Orlando and Denver locations.

Your Future in Radiography is Crystal Clear

Radiographers are problem solvers who use sophisticated imaging equipment to pinpoint abnormalities. They can identify illnesses in their early stages and help physicians care for patients quickly and accurately.

No two days are the same for radiographers. That’s why, at AdventHealth University, we train our students to think critically and make thoughtful decisions that promote healing. As technology advances, the demand for skilled and adaptable radiographers continues to grow. In our radiography program, students partner with experts certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), who challenge and inspire with real cases.

We ensure that our students acquire the skills necessary to succeed in their radiography career path. With an associate's degree in radiography, you may choose to enter the field right out of school, or you may pursue further training in a specialty like computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), administration, education, or sales. Wherever your training takes you, establish your foundation with AdventHealth University.

Answering Frequently Asked Questions About Our Associate of Science in Radiography Program

Program Overview

  • Question: How long is the radiography program?

    Answer:

The Associate of Science in Radiography program is a six-trimester (two-year) track. This blended-format curriculum combines rigorous classroom instruction, online learning modules and highly immersive clinical practicums to ensure you are fully prepared for your certification exams upon graduation.

  • Question: The Associate of Science in Radiography program is a six-trimester (two-year) track. This blended-format curriculum combines rigorous classroom instruction, online learning modules and highly immersive clinical practicums to ensure you are fully prepared

    Answer:

No, the radiography program requires full-time enrollment, and core courses must be taken in the exact sequence outlined in the academic catalog. You must take your didactic (classroom) and clinical courses concurrently.

However, you are permitted to complete your general education courses ahead of time, provided they do not conflict with your core radiography schedule.

  • Question: Can I choose when and where I complete my clinical education?

    Answer:

Clinical placement sites are strictly assigned by the program faculty to ensure you receive comprehensive, well-rounded training. We cannot make accommodations or reassignments based on a student's personal address, work schedule or obligations and you should prepare to have sufficient transportation to reach your assigned clinical sites.

  • Question: Can I work while attending the radiography program?

    Answer:

Because the radiography curriculum is highly rigorous, we strongly advise against working full-time while enrolled. In addition to your standard class and lab commitments, you must complete 16 to 20 hours of clinical rotations per week. Students who choose to work typically limit their hours to weekends and often reduce or eliminate their work schedules entirely during their final trimesters to focus on their studies.

Admissions and Application Requirements

  • Question: Do I need to complete all prerequisite courses before applying?

    Answer:

You may apply to the program before finishing your prerequisites, but you must successfully complete College Algebra prior to the program's anticipated start date. If you have not met all prerequisite requirements before the official start date, you will not be permitted to begin the program.

Career and Certification Opportunities

  • Question: What can you do with a radiography associate’s degree?

    Answer:

With an associate’s degree in radiography, you can pass the ARRT certification exam to work as a radiologic technologist in hospitals, imaging centers and outpatient clinics. Earning your associate’s degree is the essential foundational step that opens the door to multiple specialized fields within diagnostic imaging.

To explore the diverse roles and specialties available to you upon graduation, read our guide on 6 radiography careers to consider.

  • Question: Will I be a certified and licensed radiographer when I graduate?

    Answer:

Graduating from the Associate of Science in Radiography program does not automatically grant you certification, but it does make you fully eligible to take the national certification examination offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Upon passing this exam, you will become a registered radiographer. Please note that approximately two-thirds of U.S. states also require radiographers to obtain a state-specific license, so you must verify the requirements for the specific state where you plan to practice.
